Rushing down Atlantic Road
Today I was an undercover nanny and I was rushing to get my kid to basketball when I was caught up by this incredible image..... Knight Webb Gallery in Brixton have this incredible ultraviolet display. They had an open day where anybody could come and doodle away with ultra violet umm...tools? Anyway and it just looks fantastic... Inspiring really!
That's my kid's shadows lol.
I love Brixton.
Check out the gallery!
Wednesday is recipe day: Red Velvet
Instead of sharing my secrets I'll share a solid Hummingbird recipe.. Can't go wrong, just don't get natural red dye.... One day I had to abandon my friends birthday BROWN velvet cake and bring an M&S cake instead. It was shameful. Though the M&S chocolate cake with the stars is reeealllly good.
Makes: 12
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
You will need
60g unsalted butter at room temperature
150g caster sugar
1 egg
20g cocoa powder
40ml red food colouring
½ tsp vanilla extract
120ml buttermilk
150g plain flour
½ tsp bicarbonate of soda
1½ tsp white vinegar
1 x 12-hole cupcake tray, lined with paper cases
For the frosting:
300g icing sugar, sifted
50g unsalted butter, at room temperature
125g cream cheese, cold
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 170°C/325°F/gas mark 3.
2. Put the butter and the sugar in a freestanding electric mixer with a paddle attachment (or use a handheld electric whisk) and beat on medium speed until light and fluffy and well mixed. Turn the mixer up to high speed, slowly add the egg and beat until everything is well incorporated.
3. In a separate bowl, mix together the cocoa powder, red food colouring and vanilla extract to make a very thick, dark paste. Add to the butter mixture and mix thoroughly until evenly combined and coloured (scrape any unmixed ingredients from the side of the bowl with a rubber spatula). Turn the mixer down to slow speed and slowly pour in half the buttermilk.
4. Beat until well mixed, then add half the flour and beat until everything is well incorporated. Repeat this process until all the buttermilk and flour have been added. Scrape down the side of the bowl again. Turn the mixer up to high speed and beat until you have a smooth, even mixture. Turn the mixer down to low speed and add the bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. Beat until well mixed, then turn up the speed again and beat for a couple more minutes.
5. Meanwhile, make the frosting by beating the icing sugar the remaining 20g of the unsalted butter together in a freestanding electric mixer with a paddle attachment (or use a handheld electric whisk) on medium-slow speed until the mixture comes together and is well mixed. Add the cream cheese in one go and beat it until it is completely incorporated. Turn the mixer up to medium-high speed. Continue beating until the frosting is light and fluffy, at least five minutes. Do not overbeat, as it can quickly become runny.
6. Spoon the mixture into the paper cases until two-thirds full and bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the sponge bounces back when touched. A skewer inserted in the centre should come out clean. Leave the cupcakes to cool slightly in the tray before turning out onto a wire cooling rack to cool completely. When the cupcakes are cold, spoon the cream cheese frosting on top.
Tips: To make a red velvet cake instead, double the quantities below, divide between three 20-cm cake tins and bake for 25 minutes at the same oven temperature.

Brawling bad boys? Chris and Frank.
Some of us love a guy that can and will hold his own. But ummmmm perhaps not a guy that pops off like pop corn in a little heat. Chris and Frank brawling.... At work you know... Does it make it alright because they're in the 'studio' and not a office or a shop?
No.
Bring back the hunter gatherer man. Not the ego egg face man....
Mmmmmmmm yes. Breakfast is important.
This is what I had. Special K and lemon and ginger tea!
I think people should remind other people all the time!
The slimmest people (this is a real statistic) have breakfast in the morning...
Breakfast helps you to think clearly.
It helps you to avoid those UNHELPFUL snacks.
Coffee shop breakfasts more often than not are unhealthy.
If you get the porridge at Starbucks... MAKE SURE YOU GET SUGAR. I made that mistake once.

Imagine if we all lived like this....
While doing my daily devotion (start day as you mean to go on!!) I thought I'd share what I'd read. Not to bible bash... At all. My thoughts here are about standards.... guidelines.... And not being to proud to have any of those and be absolute at times. Also about returning to some disciplines that are good for you.
My life really comes together when I put these into practice....
“I am the Lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery.
“You must not have any other god but me. “
You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the L ord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.
“You must not misuse the name of the L ord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name. “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the L ord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. For in six days the L ord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the L ord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.
“Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
“You must not murder.
“You must not commit adultery.
“You must not steal.
“You must not testify falsely against your neighbor.
“You must not covet your neighbor’s house. You must not covet your neighbor’s wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.” (Exodus 20:2-17 NLT)

Nuclear by Destiny's Child!
Hmmmmm... What do you guys think? My little cousin is right this song belongs on a run way but I actually really like the track. OKAY, they didn't 'pop it off' and I'd have preferred a come back song with more energy BUT I'd have loved the track if it wasn't a come back track.... Make sense? Reading the comments on the Destiny's Child VEVO is a little bit painful... Everything from, "I'll love whatever they do" to " Destiny's Child -________-" and even "HORRIBLE!"
It's only have just over 2000 views on the actual VEVO.... I don't thinki have the energy to be watching everyone's video reviews today.....

So let's talk about skin care
So I don't believe in regurgitating information.. Found this site where you can find your skin type and helpful advice! The 10 biggest skin mistakes is a simple article and the website is pretty easy to explore.... My downfall of course is sugar but we must remain disciplined! Everything in moderation... FOR GUYS AS WELL!!
I'm trying to promote a make up free movement in my corner of the world... Let's liberate ourselves!

Spring shoes! KURT GEIGER SALE!!
In light of the Kardashians being sued, Beyonce releasing a trailer teaser for 'Life is but a dream' and HMV facing a serious financial crisis, it's time to check out some shoes for spring.
Get your spring shop on ladies, you might be able to find what's coming up in the sales!

KURT GEIGER HAVE A SALE!! These shoes are perfectly 'in' for spring 2013! I haven't bought a strappy sandal heel for like 5 years and these are quite similar to a pair I wore for my high school prom! Oh how things come around even sooner than you think...!
These shoes can be found on asos.. Well heeled and ankle straps are in hooray! I've always been a fan of ankle straps.... But on some shoes there's something a little 'hip-hop-hoochie' about it all (maybe the fir trim and gold something hanging off lol) but now I have a reason!
I'll have a hunt for the perfect neon example.. These things mustn't be rushed... Can't afford to be looking like something out of a 90's pop music video.. Tragic neon is NOT in this season!

What's on your horizon?
This is what I see when I look out my window.
What do you see when you look out of yours?
Does it depress you?
Or motivate you?
Does it make you ask questions about what's on your metaphorical horizon?
Where are you going in life?
CakeGirls do many other things when not serving the nationwide with cake, glamour and pure hotness... We're all working towards something.... Together as a company and in our own individual lives.
There's a purpose for everyone, and there's something that you have to do in your life time that no one will be able to do the way you would have done it.
Just a thought.

Up middle finger I show dem!!
I'm not really into swearing. In fact, I fact I despise swearing.
But in the case of have cut my finger today (it's been bleeding for about 4 hours now) I'd like to raise my bandaged finger up to a few things:
1. Seeing bare feet in a rave. Leave it. Buy shoes that don't hurt.
2. Those who think that because I'm a virgin (by choice) That dont know anything about the big bad world. They're unrelated. You over rate your own views.
3. Parents who let their children publicly humiliate them and then complain about the way the younger generations are turning out.
4. Holes in tights. Throw them away.
5. Guys who say 'there's no such thing as a hoe'
6. Girls who don't realise that the above statement it just a way of guys getting what they want from girls. It's not liberation it's slavery.
7. An apple with a worm in it.
8. The guy who always says 'ya h'alrite browning?' As I walk past (jamo accent). I'm not browning, It's not hot enough to see such rapid change in complexion.
9. For those who talk the loudest and make other people believe their nonsense. Humility is so much more respectable than charisma. #leaveit
10. Those who swear lol.

So apparently Destiny's Child are making a comeback!?
Lol I aways suggest a bit of DC for break up recovery, disappointments and prep for dates.
I am a little apprehensive about this new album. I almost feel like it's a hoax....
It is much needed... tired of battling with Illuminati conspiracies when trying to work out which dress and heels to wear before going out to dinner. I'm hoping they'll bring that hot, routine-banging, church-girl element back to the music industry rather than it dripping with lust, dodgy pagan symbols and that kinda woman empowerment that causes problems rather than fixes issues. Let's get back to talking about boys, parties, falling in the love and surviving those trials and tribulations!! We all know I'm stuck in the past.. I live in 90's/00's my music collection is pretty much all in the that era, so excuse my excitement.
OOOOO the outfits! Excitement!
(UPDATE) PHARRELL Seems to be in on this to!!! (dream come true!!) Co written and produced the track Nuclear. I just thought you'd appreciate the little cherry on the top.
Let's see if these church girls bring it home again...!
I had to.

That tatty old BRA.
So I got this picture from website that teaches you how to turn your old bras in to a plant pot (extreme recycling!)
Today that is not my message, do what you want with your old bra, so long as you STOP WEARING THEM!!
I have a tiny back and a large cup... my size isn't in every shop and are usually a lil' pricy. Mum blessed me with some new underwear and I wanted to spread the good news so that you all would stop wearing those bra's with tears, stretched out, now-grey-used-to-be-white, straps soooo stretched out it just covers your boobs doesn't even hold em up, no good pieces of fabric!! *breathe*
You're never too old to have a completely hot set of underwear (and these days it doesn't cost that much for most of ya!!)

For a chilled day... perspective and to see an incredibly interesting HipHop fashion timeline...
Have this playing while you work:
Common's Top 100 tracks on YouTube
He's so hot. and real. intelligent. I'd like to think I was a female version of him. Maybe give me a few more years. I've got light skin and freckles and 'hell-a-fine' already ticked off on my comparison list ;-)
Trust me, this playlist will really transform your day. Do you remember this?

As for a snakeskin dress... maybe if i ever became a bond girl..?
Somethings should always just be accessories.... I feel that snakeskin should be one of them!
I'll give you two options....
1. This is Mulberry at John Lewis.. £1,100 (only if you've got it!!!)

2 days into the New Year
...you've partied, reflected, shopped, made some promises/resolutions and perhaps already broken them? Loosing weight? Stopping smoking? Throwing out all the rubbish you're hoarding in your wardrobe?
Here are some goals to really consider this year:
1. Sort out your debts... as glamorous a life as we all may want; BIG BRANDS, cars, houses etc.. it's not worth building up debt only to break your back at 69yrs still trying to pay them off (or worse, handing them over to your kids). There are ways to still feel a million dollars without actually spending someone else's. Check out THIS IS MONEY for some tips and a start to clearing your debts and getting a hold of your money situation.
If you cant find those incredible treasure in the TKMAXX and TRAID... it's because i beat you to it! Give it a go!
My goal this year is to open every letter that comes through the door straight away. Last year I had some very 'uncool' financial surprises because I was too scared to open my letters!
2. The usual.... consider your fitness.... I'm going back to dancing (my first passion!) and I've always been a bit of a health freak even though I eat cake and chocolate a lot. Please. Do something. Skating? Boxing. Walking a few bus stops before getting on the bus..? Salsa... Gym? Jogging?.... Get a partner and implement some sort of exercise into your week.
I don't believe in dieting unless your like 20stone.
Chew 15 times, that should keep the weight off lol.
3. Get a hobby.... learn to bake!? Push the boundaries of your intelligence... maybe do a short course, learn a language.. join a book club? cooking club? Help someone else... through tutoring... read something out of your usual preference.... see the world through someone else's eyes... Perhaps instead of the usual holiday which consists of sunbathing, hangovers and holiday romances.. perhaps actually get to know the country you've visited... o_O
4. Again. Keep it intentional: colours, prints, cuts, height. wearing clothes isn't a joke. Don't be slack about it. You'll be amazed with what you can do with what you have....
Please. I beg you.
